Efficiency Manitoba: Community Rink Lighting Initiative

Eco-West Canada is supporting Efficiency Manitoba’s newly launched Community Rink Lighting Initiative, which opened on September 1. This initiative provides funding for energy efficient lighting upgrades.

Friday, September 1 to December 1, 2023

This new limited-time initiative aims to help communities reduce their energy bills and operating costs.

• Both municipalities and privately run rinks are eligible for funding.
• Up to $2 million in funding will be provided to fund the initiative.
• Eligible projects will receive up to 100% of reasonable lighting equipment and associated labour costs.
• The initiative will run from September 1 to December 1, 2023.
• Submissions will be reviewed and funding will be allocated to a variety of projects with the intent of supporting urban, rural, remote, and First Nation communities throughout Manitoba.
• Approved projects will be administered through the Business Lighting Program with enhanced incentives from this initiative.

Eligibility Requirements

1. The building is used in a commercial capacity and has an indoor ice surface.
2. The proposed lighting equipment meets the Business Lighting Program product requirements.
3. The Expression of Interest is submitted between September 1 to December 1, 2023
4. A material and labour quote is provided with the Expression of Interest.
5. The project must be approved prior to material purchase and installation.
